Kate Upton

Katherine Elizabeth Upton was born in 1992 into a political family in St. Joseph, Michigan. She has three siblings and her uncle, Fred Upton, is the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 6th congressional district. At an early age the girl took a great interest in horse riding and soon started participating in American Paint Horse Association and competed on a national level, where she received five world titles.

Kate Upton was scouted at the age of 12 but giving in to her parents’ decision she only got involved into modeling when she turned 15. She went to Miami and attended an open casting call for Elite Model Management. She was signed the same day which gave her a good start in the industry. Soon Kate Upton moved to New York and signed with IMG Models.

Kate Upton’s first job was for Garage, then Dooney & Bourke. In 2010 she became the face of Guess which was a very prestigious offer considering the fact Adriana Lima, Victoria Silvstedt, and Megan Ewing used to collaborate with the fashion giant. Kate did a number of campaigns for Guess including clothing, lingerie and later accessory campaigns. Her face became recognizable by ordinary people. And that was only the beginning.

In 2011, Kate was featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue along with Brooklyn Decker, Irina Shayk and other models. And while her photo appeared only in the body-paint section the young model was eventually named “Rookie of the Year” for the issue. Soon after this Kate Upton modeled for Beach Bunny swimwear, Bare Necessities Lingerie, Wacoal Lingerie and Jenna Leigh Lingerie. She was also named the new Victoria’s Secret Angel. Her job at Victoria’s Secret stopped speculation on the issue that the company hired only stick-thin models.

In June 2011, Kate Upton was named Esquire Magazine’s ‘The Woman Of The Summer’ and appeared in a number of images for the magazine.
